          We're seeing changes in power electronics with the automotive industry moving towards vehicle electrifi-
          cation and the advent of 5G communications technologies that will accelerate the growth of cloud com-
          puting. These applications require more power and also thermal management solutions or cooling tech-
          nologies for batteries and other powertrain systems. Moreover, in server and telecom applications, the
          highest efficiency and power density are  clear market trends. There is an essential need for increased

          server capacities and fast connectivity for real-time data transmission. Highly efficient server and tel-
          ecom switched-mode power supplies (SMPS) are required to achieve this. In this issue, Rafael Garcia,
          Principal System Applications Engineer, Server and Telecom SMPS, Infineon Technologies Austria, will
          introduce a new solution to use Si SJ MOSFETs in CCM totem-pole PFC applications. Interest in battery
          electric vehicles is steadily increasing in the automotive sector. The real challenge to face is the possibil-
          ity to have  fast-charging stations, thus reducing battery charging time. This will lead to a significant ther-
          mal increase in powertrain systems resulting in controlled thermal management to optimize heat flow.
