SIMULATION OF THERMAL DISSIPATION VIEW POINT

            and Energy
Climate-change mitigation and adaptation are two of the most serious concerns of our day. The
foundation of these issues is the energy dilemma, or more precisely, our overall energy usage and
reliance on fossil fuels. To combat global warming, the world must use energy more efficiently,
depending on renewable energy sources for transportation, heating, and cooling. Based on the
latest Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) report showing that human-caused
greenhouse gas emissions are responsible for approximately 1.1°C of warming between 1850 and
1900, and using estimates averaged over the next 20 years, global temperature is expected to reach
or exceed 1.5°C, with dramatic consequences for both the climate and society. The influence of
humans on the environment cannot be ignored, and global efforts are underway to find a better

balance between enjoying life’s pleasures and conveniences while decreasing our environmental
footprint. Improved household appliance efficiency through wide-bandgap semiconductors is one
such initiative. Moreover, accelerating the transition to “clean hydrogen” is a critical step to pursue.
In this issue, we analyze the world of green hydrogen and its features, as well as SiC devices and GaN
technology for motor control. SiC has a number of benefits over traditional Si-based power devices
like IGBTs and MOSFETs, which have long dominated the industry due to their cost-effectiveness
and ease of manufacture. GaN’s better switching behavior reduces dead time and increases PWM
frequency, resulting in unrivaled sinusoidal voltage and current waveforms for smoother, quieter
operation and increased system efficiency. Intelligent motion control is also a key component of

smart manufacturing, allowing for more flexible and efficient production. To offer deterministic
motion solutions, intelligent motion control integrates precision feedback, sophisticated sensing,
